About

Mike Waltz represented Florida's 6th Congressional District from 2019 to 2025 and is a retired Army Special Forces colonel and Green Beret who served multiple combat tours. He served as National Security Advisor, a role that does not require Senate confirmation. He was removed from the NSA position in May 2025 after it was revealed he had used the consumer messaging app Signal to conduct sensitive military discussions with other cabinet officials, including inadvertently adding a journalist from The Atlantic to a group chat discussing a planned airstrike in Yemen. He was subsequently nominated as UN Ambassador.
